I’ve made water kefir several times from your grains and this is the first time your grains have turned to sand in the first 24 hrs. I have written y’all multiple times for a refund or new grains and nobody has responded. I’m very disappointed.
I could not get my grains to plump up. Super disappointing! I did everything I should have, and even left them on the counter a few extra days since I could tell they weren’t ready. Sad!

Grains didn’t seem to “start” - remained brown and “lifeless.” I’ve started a batch in the past and the grains were plump and translucent and showed some signs of life after starting. We brewed some kombucha at the same time as this batch of water kefir using the same water and sitting in the same conditions, and the kombucha flourished. I can’t figure out why the water kefir decided not to start.
I followed the directions exactly, activating the grains then making it three times and the kefir grains don't seem to be digesting the sugar because it is still disgustingly sweet.
We're sorry your water kefir is tasting sweet! Make sure to keep it nice and warm and use a less refined sugar. If you're already doing these things, feel free to contact us and we can look into your process to make some tweaks!
