ABOUT THE KOMBUCHA STARTER
Our Dehydrated Kombucha Starter Culture is perfect for the “Laid back brewer” type. Rehydrating the SCOBY takes about 4 weeks and allows those new to kombucha brewing to get the process underway. The rehydration process is fun to watch and a great way to learn about fermentation! When your dehydrated SCOBY arrives, you do not have to get started right away - simply store in the refrigerator until you’re ready to go! A dehydrated SCOBY is a great addition to any larder or canned goods storage.

      DID NOT WORK

Received Kombucha starter culture (dehydrated scoby) for Christmas. I started the culture exactly by the directions. I started it Dec 26th. I purchased a seed starter heat mat to keep it warm to 85 degrees. Jan 25th I made my first batch. Nothing happened so I made a 2nd batch Feb 19th w/o vinegar at room temp (abt 65-68 degrees. still nothing happening. March 4th I checked on it and I have green mold floating on top. I have made Kombucha in the past from a Scoby someone gave to me and never did I grow mold. I would not recommend using a dehydrated scoby. I will only source live scoby's from now on.

      SCOBY never activates

It's my fourth month with the kombucha dehydrated SCOBY. However, even by keeping it on the right temperature, pH, darkens and without motion, the smell, flavour and colour of the tea never changed, and a baby SCOBY never grew up.

      Didn’t do anything

Both the kombucha and sourdough starter I bought didnt do anything. The scooby just sat there, never multiplied. The sourdough starter never increased in volume despite feeding it as instructed for weeks.
