ABOUT THE STARTER CULTURE: Our Dehydrated Kombucha Starter Culture is perfect for the “Laid back brewer” type. Rehydrating the SCOBY takes about 4 weeks and allows those new to kombucha brewing to get the process underway. The rehydration process is fun to watch and a great way to learn about fermentation! When your dehydrated SCOBY arrives, you do not have to get started right away - simply store in the refrigerator until you’re ready to go! A dehydrated SCOBY is a great addition to any larder or canned goods storage.

I’m very disappointed. Three batches trying to get the scoby rehydrated and active. Nothing. After consulting with others I find this is often the case and you’ve had many complaints but just ignore them. Now at this time I have to wait until I can afford to order a live culture from another source. I’ve enjoyed using your supplies for a while now and you have a great reputation why ruin it over something like this? At the very least I would like a refund for the kit so I can buy a live culture from someone else.

I didn’t get very detailed instructions with this kit. Are there more instructions inside the dehydrated scoby packet? Are the contents of the continuous brew kit to be started in the continuous jar or in a smaller jar??? The instructions that I got from inside the culture starter box literally say follow the instructions inside the kombucha starter culture box…. I’m also confused about the metal washer for the inside of the continuous brew jar. In the article on the page it says don’t use metal inside a kombucha kit.

Can't have sugar, do you have other kits, or maybe suggestions? On special diet, no sugar or honey, but supposed to drink kombutia...Help?

After looking into our kombucha products a little more, it looks like in some form our products are made up of some kind of sugar/honey or sugar/honey are needed for the fermentation process. If you look under the individual products (not the kits) on our website, it'll show what the product is made of as well as what is needed for the fermentation process!

Can I use monk sugar for the white sugar in the kombucha recipe?

Hi Melissa, Thanks for reaching out! I'd recommend using the sugar that we recommend in our recipe for best success. Monk sugar might not have the necessary minerals that the kombucha would need to ferment correctly.
