EXPERT HELP
With fermentorson staff, you'll get expert help whenever you need it
Elevate your home fermenting projects with our high-quality pickling weights. These handy tools help ensure your pickles stay submerged during the fermentation process, promoting successful, mold-free pickling. When it comes to creating the best pickled products, these pickle weights are a must-have addition to your fermentation kit.
A reliable pickle weight is key to achieving the ideal environment for fermentation. By keeping your vegetables fully submerged in brine, these pickle weights prevent mold growth and ensure a more consistent fermentation process. This leads to crisper, tastier pickles, providing you with the best results every time.
Our pickle pebbles are an excellent solution to keeping your fermenting veggies in place. These weights are designed to fit inside common jar sizes, easily holding down your pickling ingredients. Using pickle pebbles not only enhances the fermentation process but also makes it safer by helping to prevent mold growth, giving you more homemade pickled delights.
Ordered these as I didn't have weights for a standard size canning jar. They seem to be a bit small. Used them with sliced peppers and some pepper rings floated up to surface and turning sideways. I ended up using my silicone discs. They will probably work well with a full and tightly packed jar. My jars were not. I am NOT unhappy with purchase.
I'm new to fermenting. I did some trials using ziplock bags filled with water. I still had some mold and yeast issues with them, plus there was enough gap between the lid and the jar to attract fruit flies. I decided to try the Pickle Pebbles. So far they have worked very well, with none of the issues that I had with the ziplock bags. I'll keep working with these, and may get the larger ones for my quart jars if these continue to work well.
These work great, but NOT for less than full jars, like you'd have with the shorter pickling cucumbers. They simply sink to the bottom of the jar if they can find a weak spot (loosely packed spot like you'd have with pickles). However, when the jars are FULL (for like, for instance, beets for beet kvass) they work AWESOME. Soooo much better and easier than rolling up cabbage leaves that splash your brine all over.
I love those glass weights for fermenting. They always work so perfectly. They submerge the ferment to keep it in the fluid and these ones are also easy to take out. Great product!
I liked the shape of the pickle pebbles, you can easily hold them, but unless you filled the whole jar and insert them at the mouth of the jar, they don't hold the pickles under water. If you do fill the jar and place the pebble on top of the contents, the juice spills out (when you use a standard mouth jar). The standard pickle pebbles don't work for wide mouth jars, at least not for the type of pickles I make. And I thought they were a bit pricey.
We're so sorry you're not completely satisfied with the Pickle Pebbles! Make sure to leave a little room at the top so the brine doesn't overflow. They do tend to work better when you fill your jars pretty full but you can use a pint jar if you can't fill a whole quart jar. We also carry two different sizes - wide mouth and standard!
