MAKE YOUR SWEET TEA |
ADD SCOBY & CULTURE |
LID & STORE |
Jun tea is super easy to culture. The scoby arrived very healthy and active, certainly contributing to the ease of cultivation. Scoby replicates much faster than traditional kombucha.
Arrives as a fat chunk of scoby in it's JUN tea "bath" in a surprisingly sturdy plastic pillow kind of deal inside another bag. Followed the directions to make a couple small batches and indeed the new scoby layers grew on top of the little chunk of scoby. At first they grew slowly, but after several batches, they grow quickly. I am surprised at how fast it grows, and how tough the thin layers of scoby are. I like the JUN tea it makes, although my main goal is to get more probiotics. I do a second ferment in flip top bottles for some extra fizziness, and am experimenting with different flavorings.
I have had very good luck with the Jun Tea Kombucha Culture. The SCOBY woke right up and I have made several batches. The directions are very clear and he pH paper is helpful to know when a batch is ready.
I followed the kombucha starter instructions, which were different than how I've made kumbucha in the past (I used a different kumbucha maintenance protocol), and it worked beautifully! I now prefer making kumbucha with honey rather than sugar.
Directions are a bit sketchy for the first batch and haven't been able to get to optimum pH yet. Still, a worthy endeavor. Wish the flavor packets had been in stock when I ordered the scoby, etc.
