I love love love these grains!! I have made kefir for awhile and these came to life quicker than any others that I’ve used!!
The milk kefir grains are very healthy and robust. I had thick, rich kefir on the second ferment. The taste is excellent - fresh-tasting and slightly tangy. And my dog comes running at the sight of the kefir jar, because she knows she is going to get her evening treat. I think she loves it more than I do!

First, shipping was very fast. Next, I didn't wait a single minute when these kefir grains arrived. Followed the instructions (which are excellent by the way) as written. After the first 24 hours, a very nice tangy scent was observed. Sure sign of a healthy and vibrant culture!

Before you start.
You'll receive dehydrated milk kefir grains in a barrier-sealed packet. You rehydrate them in pasteurized dairy milk using the included activation guide before your first batch.
Rehydration is gentle and takes a few days of small milk changes. Follow the included guide and use your grains' activity, not a fixed deadline, to know when they're ready for a full batch.
No. These are heirloom-style grains. When healthy and fed, they keep culturing batch after batch and even grow and multiply over time, so one pouch can last indefinitely with basic care.
You'll need pasteurized whole milk (not ultra-pasteurized), a quart-sized glass jar, a coffee filter or butter muslin, a rubber band, a thermometer, and a plastic or stainless steel mesh strainer. If you'd rather have everything together, our Milk Kefir Starter Kit includes the supplies.
You don't have to guess your way through it. Start with the included guide, use the troubleshooting resources, and contact our fermenters if something isn't working. The culture guarantee has replacement support; see the policy for terms.
Milk kefir grains must be rehydrated in pasteurized dairy milk first. Once they're fully active, they can culture coconut, soy, or rice milk, but they need regular refreshing in dairy milk to stay healthy.
Yes. The grains contain powdered milk and live active cultures, contain no GMO ingredients, and are gluten-free. They're manufactured in a facility that also processes products containing soy and dairy.
